Some major insurers are accepting fewer than 55% of claims, and in the worst cases, approval rates fall below 30%.

You may have noticed something that doesn’t sit right.

Insurance premiums are going up, but claims settlements are going down.

Recent findings reported by Which? magazine, and now under review by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), show that some well-known insurers accept fewer than 55% of home insurance claims. Some fall below 30%.

When you're facing loss or damage to your home or a related loss, the last thing you need is a wall of confusion, delays, or technical talk from your insurance company. Whether you’re unsure how to begin or already stuck in the middle of a difficult process, Claims Assist Norfolk Ltd. offers clear, honest insurance claims advice to help you move forward with confidence.

Who We Are

I’m Dave Stewart, the founder of Claims Assist Norfolk. I’ve spent over 40 years working in the insurance industry, including time inside one of the UK’s largest insurers. I know how the system works — and more importantly, I understand how frustrating and overwhelming it can be for homeowners trying to make a claim without support.

Claims Assist Norfolk exists to give you access to expert advice, in plain English, from someone who’s seen it all.

What We Do & Common Issues We Solve

We offer one-to-one insurance claims advice for homeowners across Norfolk who need a bit of help cutting through the confusion. That might be:

  • You're not sure whether to make a claim at all

  • You've reported a claim, but you're not getting updates

  • You've been asked to provide more information but don’t know what’s needed

  • You're worried your claim may be rejected

  • You’ve had an offer from the insurer that doesn’t seem fair

  • You just want someone independent to explain the next steps

Our advice is always tailored to your circumstances. Whether it’s helping you check your policy wording, explaining what your insurer might be looking for, or giving a second opinion on a settlement offer, we’re here to support you, not the insurance company.

Who We Help

Claims Assist Norfolk Ltd. works exclusively with private homeowners, not businesses or landlords. We’re proud to support people who’ve experienced damage from:

We understand that making a claim can be an emotional process. It often happens at a stressful time when you’re dealing with the loss of sentimental items, unexpected repairs, or just feeling let down by the insurer’s response.

That’s why we focus on people, not policies. You won’t be handed over to a call centre or kept waiting for answers. You’ll deal directly with Dave every time.

Why Choose Us

There are plenty of websites offering generalised information about claims. But what most people really need is personalised, one-to-one advice from someone who’s been in the industry and understands how claims are handled behind the scenes.

Here’s what sets us apart:

Over 40 years in the insurance sector — including challenging rejected claims.

03

We’re local

Based in Norfolk, we understand the area, the housing stock, and the real-life challenges people face here.

A Fairer Outcome That Often Pays for Itself

Our fee ranges from 15-20%, depending on the complexity of the claim. We also ask for a £250 deposit which is refunded and taken off your final bill when the claim is settled or when an interim payment is made - whichever is the earlier.

In the unlikely event that your claim fails, then no fee is payable. In addition, the deposit is also refunded but only where such failure is not due to any misinformation supplied by you.

But here’s the key point:

Clients frequently find that the increased settlement we help them secure more than covers our fee.

Many homeowners who go it alone may accept lower offers simply because they’re unsure how to challenge them or don’t want the stress. With our help, claims are often better evidenced, better argued, and better paid.

Some companies suggest results can be up to 30% higher when a loss assessor is involved. While we don’t make bold claims without stats to back them, our experience shows that:

The support, reduced stress, and improved claim outcome usually make our involvement more than worthwhile.

You don’t just get help, you get value.

How it Works

At Claims Assist Norfolk, we believe that clarity and confidence come from having a clear plan. Here’s what you can expect when you contact Dave for help with your claim:

Initial Consultation

We start with a friendly chat over the phone or in person, to understand your situation. Dave will explain how the service works, the fee structure and how he can assist you.

Gathering the Right Details

Next, Dave will take down the full details of the incident, what happened, when, and what’s been done so far. If needed, he’ll arrange a site visit to inspect the damage and take photographs to support the claim.

Claim Checklist Review

He’ll go through all the necessary checks with you, including:

  • Name of your insurer

  • Policy status and premium payment

  • Date of loss

  • Whether the insurer and any broker have been notified

  • Claim number (if you’ve already reported it)

  • Police report number (if it was a criminal matter)

  • Any previous claims history

  • Whether you have estimates or valuations for lost or damaged items

  • Whether there are warranties or endorsements on your policy that need attention

Paperwork Made Simple

To begin working on your behalf, you’ll be asked to sign:

  • A Delegated Authority Form – this allows Dave to speak directly to your insurer for you

  • A Terms of Business Agreement (TOBA) – clearly setting out what you can expect

  • A £250 refundable deposit – which goes toward your final fee

All documents are explained clearly before you sign, and copies are returned to you for your records.

Moving the Claim Forward

Once everything is in place, Dave will:

  • Make a joint call with you to the insurer (if needed)

  • Handle all further communication with the insurer or their loss adjuster

  • Keep you informed at every step

  • Negotiate settlement offers — always with your approval

  • Provide support if estimates or extra reports are required

The claim is always in your name and under your control — Dave’s role is to make it easier, clearer, and fairer for you.
